Join us for this signature event celebrating our 10th annual One Book, One Village selection. Our 2023 author, Catherine Adel West, joins us in-person to share the story behind The Two Lives of Sara. She will be joined in conversation by Natalie Moore, an award-winning journalist based in Chicago. Registration opens September 1 for Arlington Heights cardholders only. Registration opens to the general public on September 15, as space allows.

Catherine Adel West was born and raised in Chicago, where she currently resides. She graduated with both her Bachelor’s degree and Master of Science in Journalism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her work is published in Black Fox Literary Magazine, Five2One, Better than Starbucks, Doors Ajar, 805 Lit + Art, The Helix Magazine, Lunch Ticket and Gay Magazine. Author of Saving Ruby King, Catherine was named one of USA TODAY’s Black Authors You Should Know. The Two Lives of Sara is her sophomore novel.
Natalie Moore covers segregation and inequality for WBEZ, Chicago’s NPR affiliate. Her enterprise reporting has tackled race, housing, economic development, food injustice and violence. Moore’s work has been broadcast on the BBC, Marketplace and NPR’s Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Weekend Edition. Moore writes a monthly column for the Chicago Sun-Times. Her work has been published in Essence, Ebony, the Chicago Reporter, Bitch, In These Times, the Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, the Washington Post and the Guardian.
