Arlington Heights Memorial Library volunteers play a vital role in providing top-quality service to our customers. They are people of all ages who come from many cultures and have varied experience and backgrounds - people who support the mission of the library and want to lend a hand. Because of the contribution of our volunteers, we are able to provide services to our community that would not otherwise be possible.

Are you interested in working with individuals who are learning basic technology skills? Do you have personal or professional experience in teaching or mentoring?

If so, then please consider volunteering to become a Computer Class Coach for our Android mobile device classes at the Arlington Heights Senior Center. Our classes are small by design with only 4-6 students who range in ability from first-ever smartphone users to current users who want to learn more. Coaches assist the instructor with lessons from standard materials developed by library staff on Android mobile devices. Classes are offered on weekdays from 9-11 a.m. or 2-4 p.m.; the exact dates are determined by instructor and coach availability. Due to the customer service nature of this role, we prefer individuals who can commit to at least one class per month.
