Our Stork Chat series continues with local certified childbirth educator and professional doula Tia Wente. This six-session series takes place on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the library and covers topics on pregnancy, birth and beyond in an informative and supportive setting. Each session includes Q&A. Upcoming programs include:

September 7: Breastfeeding 101 / Register

Learn about the many positions for breastfeeding, why the "golden hour" is so important, and why breastfeeding is sometimes a challenge. We will also cover pumping and storing breastmilk, as well as, where to reach out in our community when you're having difficulties. This is a great program for first-time moms, experienced moms wanting a refresher and pumping moms.

June 15: Optimizing Your Birth Experience 
Learn about setting yourself up for an amazing birth experience. Discuss labor positions, birth environment, pain relief techniques, partner support and more. Meet other expecting parents and discuss topics surrounding birth. Bring your birth ball to practice along with instruction.

July 13: Informed Decision Making in Pregnancy and Birth 
Get the tools to work through informed consent and decision making during labor and childbirth. Wente will detail using the B.R.A.I.N. acronym as a guide to make focused decisions for both expected and unanticipated matters with confidence.

August 10: Postpartum Planning and Support 
Talk about important factors for creating a peaceful and healing environment after birth. Think about who will be on your postpartum team and how you can effectively get the help you need.
