Event Description

Who was she? Who were her people? Identifying and understanding female ancestors is often a challenge. This presentation examines the legal, historical and cultural factors that shaped feminine lives, and how those factors influenced the records they created. Discussion includes identifying and accessing relevant sources for reliable kinship determination, and resources for adding depth to personal stories through social context. Case-study examples demonstrate techniques for revealing a hidden past
