Event Description

Join us for an evening with exhibit artist and documentary photographer James Bowey as part of his exhibition, When Home Won’t Let You Stay.

Bowey’s striking photographs and first-person stories of refugees provide insight into the hidden lives and compelling experiences of refugees in our communities. In this community event, Bowey will present more photographs and stories accompanied by live music and narrators from the Arlington Heights community, including students from District 214's Newcomer Center. Join your neighbors and the artist for a conversation about how current refugee policies and attitudes reflect the state of the empathetic imagination in our civic life. Refreshments will be served.

Want to be an active part of this event? We are seeking community narrators to read collected stories. If interested, contact programs@ahml.info

This event is presented as part of When Home Won't Let You Stay (February 12 –March 25)
