Event Description

Arson, faith-healing, fig bars, the 1893 Chicago World Fair, James Joyce, flat-earth theory, and absolutely NO spitting on the side-walks; this story has it all. Over 100 years ago, a town was founded north of Chicago as a theocratic utopia, ruled by a man chased out multiple countries and states for fraud. Join AHML's local history librarian, Eddie Kristan, to hear the wild and sordid tale of Rev. J. Alexander Dowie and the founding of Zion, IL.
