Census records can show who was living at an address. To find an address in the census, you’ll need to locate the correct enumeration district (ED). To do that, use Stephen P. Morse’s Unified Census ED Finder at this link. Use library databases such as Ancestry Library Edition, FamilySearch, MyHeritage, or Heritage Quest to look up census records by enumeration district, then read through the census pages for the address. The most recent census available to the public is 1940. Due to a 72 year privacy rule, the 1950 census will be released to the public in 2022.

Search newspapers for the house address. Newspaper databases, including digital images of The Daily Herald, can be accessed on our Genealogy and Local History webpage.
