Knit Picks Yarn Ball Winder 

What is it? 

This Knit Picks Ball Winder lets you transform yarn hanks and skeins into compact center-pull cakes that sit nicely while you knit and crochet. Easily winds up to 100 grams or 3.5 ounces of yarn.  

What does the Makerplace provide? 

What do I need? 

  • Customers will need to bring their own yarn to wind. 

How do I use it? 

  1. Attach to any table edge or surface up to 1-1/2" thick. 
  2. Twist on the spindle. 
  3. Position the metal guide arm. 
  4. Attach yarn through the guide arm and onto the spindle. 
  5. Start winding! 

What materials can I use? 

  • You can use any yarn from lace and fingering weights to worsted and bulky weights.

Yarn Swift Yarn Winder 

What is it? 

The Yarn Swift Yarn Winder is used in conjunction with the Knit Picks Yarn Ball Winder to wind hanks of yarn into balls before beginning your project.   

What does the Makerplace provide? 

What do I need? 

  • Customers will need to bring their own hanks of yarn to wind. 

How do I use it? 

  1. Attach to any table edge or surface up to 1-3/4" thick. 
  2. Unwrap your yarn, making sure to leave the yarn just like the manufacturer had it. 
  3. Put yarn over the swift and adjust the tension using the clamp on the center post. 
  4. Untie the knot in the yarn and locate the outside yarn (for your starting point). 
  5. Load yarn into yarn ball winder and start winding.
