Event Description

Join us to celebrate Native American History Month with a film screening and discussion.

REZ METAL follows the Navajo heavy metal band I Don't Konform's remarkable journey from performing on poverty-stricken reservations to recording their debut album with Grammy-award winner producer of Metallica while telling the compelling story of thriving heavy metal scene on the Navajo reservations. Screening will be followed by a facilitated discussion with Gina Roxas from the Trickster Cultural Center.

Gina Roxas, is of the fish clan and an enrolled member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. She has studied the environment through a multifaceted lens of traditional teachings from her Grandmother and family Elders as well as the humanities and science. Gina is also the Medicinal Garden manager and facilitates programs that centers traditional plant knowledge as it relates to healing, environmental justice and self-determination.
