Event Description

Program Location: Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 W. Freemont St.

To avoid a boring summer spent at summer camps picked out by their moms--science camp for Jamila, dance camp for Shirley--the two ten-year-olds hatch a plan that will allow them to do what they want instead. Jamila wants to shoot hoops at the park and Shirley wants to solve mysteries as an amateur detective. Together these new friends search for a missing gecko and try to salvage their summer along the way.

Pick up your book at the Kids' World desk in advance, then meet us on the Historical Museum lawn to discuss Shirley and Jamila Save Their Summer by Gillian Goerz on June 22nd. Bring a blanket to sit on.  Safety precautions in place according to current, local mitigation guidelines. To request accessibility accommodations, please contact us at 847-392-0100 or accessibility@ahml.info prior to the event.

In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved to Zoom.
