Event Description

Second Session added by demand!

Join Shannon Downey of Badass Cross Stitch for a special Meet the Maker workshop. Get acquainted with craftivism, learn to embroider, stitch something brilliant, and make friends—all in just 2 hours! Craft-based activism has been used as a tool of resistance and coalition building. Learn a brief history of craftivism and how it is being used today, and learn to embroider in just minutes so you can join in the fun and the movement.

Shannon Downey is an artist, activist, craftivist, and community builder who works in embroidery. She blends activism and art into projects that are designed to inspire others to take action, think, discuss, engage with democracy and their community, and find some digital/analog balance. Coming up with and executing on big ideas is her jam. She creates art to inspire other people to create art.

Register beginning March 15. Space is limited

Supply kits will be available for local pickup; A supply list will also be provided to all registered guests so you may bring your own materials.
