A Boy Called Bat by Elana K. Arnold

When his veterinarian mom brings home a stray baby skunk that needs rehabilitation before it can be placed in a wild animal shelter, Bat, who has autism, resolves to prove that he is up to the challenge of caring for the skunk permanently

We will virtually discuss the book and complete a craft activity. We will be making a paper skunk. 

Be sure to have your supplies ready so you can follow along with us. You will need:

  • 2 sheets of white paper - 8 1/2” x 11” or construction paper
  • 1 sheet of blue paper- optional 
  • 1 sheet of green paper- optional
  • pencil and eraser
  • thin black tip marker (not a permanent marker if possible) 
  • white glue or glue stick 
  • scissors
  • colored pencils, crayons, or markers (whatever you have on hand) - main colors needed are black, white, & pink

Copies of the book are available on Hoopla. If you’d like to bring a snack and beverage to our book discussion, please do so. For kids in 2nd and 3rd grade with an adult.
