Event Description

This program is open to all and will be especially welcoming to our English language learning community.

Join us at the Arlington Heights Makerplace Kitchen to learn how to make arepas — are they from Venezuela or Colombia? That’s always up for debate! 😄These delicious cornmeal cakes are naturally gluten-free and can easily be made dairy-free. Explore the rich culinary traditions of both countries with guidance from a local Venezuelan-Colombian community member, who will share her technique, culture, and even a few Spanish words along the way. ¡Delicioso! Don’t miss it!

Space is limited. Culinary classes are designed for adults 18+ and limited to one class per month, per Arlington Heights cardholder. Register any time from September 3 at 9 a.m. to September 4 at 8:59 a.m. to join the lottery for a chance to attend. Individuals will be chosen at random and notified by email on September 4.

The Makerplace kitchen is not a nut-free, gluten-free, or other allergy free environment.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To request an accommodation, please call 847.392.0100, text 847.665.1491 or email us at accessibility@ahml.info
