The resistance to get involved in everyday injustice is often the belief that 'someone else will' and is described as the Bystander Effect. However, just learning about the phenomenon and gaining tools to confidently interrupt can help us keep our communities safer. Join Northwest CASA in a conversation to learn tools, tips, and tricks to help stop violence in relationships, online, and in our everyday lives and become an Upstander!

Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault (NWCASA) is the only full-service agency that provides free services to sexual assault survivors and their loved ones within the North and Northwest suburbs of Cook County & McHenry County. Northwest CASA is a governing body member of the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault.  Their free services include: individual, family, and group counseling for survivors and their loved ones; medical advocacy at hospital emergency rooms; legal advocacy at local police departments and courthouses; crisis intervention telephone hotline; and professional training, sexual abuse prevention education, and community activism. Medical advocacy and a confidential crisis hotline are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and many services offered are available in both English and Spanish.

This program is presented in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault.
