Event Description

Join fellow adult English language learners in the ESL office or on Zoom as we discuss The Two Lives of Sara by Catherine Adel West, our 2023 One Book, One Village selection.

Set in segregated Memphis during the ever-changing political climate of the 1960s, The Two Lives of Sara is a compelling work of historical fiction that takes readers on an emotional journey as Sara King leaves Chicago and finds her way to Memphis to escape the ghosts of her pasts and carve a new life for herself and her son Lebanon. This poignant and moving story gives readers a solid glimpse into the racial reality of the times and illustrates how our experiences continually reshape us. The community will connect with the stories message of the fortitude to endure, find joy, and be part of a community even in the most challenging of times.

Request your copy of the book through your AHML account or contact us to place your hold. This title is also available as an eBook and eAudiobook through cloudLibrary and Hoopla.
