The world may be a stage, but for Miles Pope, a struggling black actor in New York, life is one discouraging audition after another. Determined to maintain his artistic and racial integrity, Miles is above accepting the stereotypical roles he's invariably offered. Suddenly, it looks like the curtain may come down on his life before it ever goes up on his career -- flying home from another failed acting assignment his plane begins to crash. In a moment of panic and shared secrets, the passenger next to miles confesses that he's not who he appears to be. Through the miracle of plastic surgery he transformed his identity from infamous mob boss, Trank Luchino, a man the FBI believes to be dead, to Leland Carver, a prominent billionarie businessman. Then another miracle occurs -- the plane safely touches down on the tarmac. Miles' relief is short-lived. As the only man alive who knows the truth about Carver, Miles soon becomes the target of a contract hit man. Forced to disguise himself with a parade of new and hilarious indentities -- including James Brown's brother, Othello, a real estate salesman, and an Italian-American hit man hired to kill himself -- Miles' world is turned completely upside down as he sets out to protect his life, reveal the crime lord's secret, and realize his dreams
