An outrageous comedy about love in the 90s. Martha, a producer of a morning talk show, is holding out for "Mr. Right" despite pressure from family and friends. While she has a casual relationship with a younger P.A., Walter, she is sure that the man of her dreams is out there somewhere. Her luck finally changes when she meets a handsome stranger, Whitman, at a local bar. The next few days are magical but gradually Martha realizes Whitman is far from her ideal love. Martha starts receiving threatening calls from Whitman's extremely jealous and possibly psychotic ex-girlfriend, and it turns out that Whitman's idea of a good time involves getting blasted on stolen beer and harassing illegal immigrants. Unfortunately, Whitman is determined to pursue the relationship. Martha warns Whitman to get lost -- she has a career, family, friends and has no need of a boyfriend. Whitman systematically proceeds to sabotage Martha's career, he separates her from her parents by sending them on a cruise and makes sure that Walter knows that Martha is his woman. The nightmare escalates as Martha attempts to rid herself of Whitman, until he kidnaps her and drives her to Mexico where they are to be married. Having been drugged with large doses of lsd, Martha nevertheless is ultimately able to thwart the wedding and discovers that walter is as close to "Mr. Right" as she needs to get
