In psychology, we understand resilience as the universal capacity that people have to resist and recover from adverse circumstances, whether individual or psychosocial. According to the definition of the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, resilience is the ability of a living being to adapt to a disturbing agent or an adverse state or situation. We are not talking, therefore, of a mere resistance to the attacks or blows of adversity, but of a much more lasting and stable capacity: it is a true "superpower" that we human beings have. Each of us reacts differently to an emotionally adverse event. We all know people (perhaps ourselves) who very quickly overcome traumatic or stressful experiences, such as the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, illness, breakups, etc., while with equal frequency we see others who find it difficult to overcome those same events (perhaps ourselves). The capacity for resilience is something inherent to the human being, but the fact is that there are people who, by nature, are much more resilient than others, and it is precisely this type of people who demonstrate greater emotional balance in stressful situations. In this book you will learn numerous activities to develop and strengthen the "superpower" of resilience on a daily basis
