NOTES

Angie, 6, and her sister, Polly, 4, are utterly distraught when they arrive at Cathy's house, having been taken from their home by social workers, after their older half-sister, Ashleigh, accuses their father of raping her. Cathy tries to comfort the girls, but they want their mummy and daddy, and are inconsolable for days. They appear to have been well looked after and the family has never come to the attention of the social services before. However, as the girls settle and start to talk of life at home, it becomes clear that Ashleigh didn't enjoy the same close relationship with her stepfather. She is supposed to have phone contact with Polly and Angie but doesn't want to speak to them, which seems strange. A chance remark from Angie makes Cathy wonder whether Ashleigh is telling the truth. Could it be that this is a false allegation? Will the family ever be reunited?
