NOTES

A Pretty One. A Hero. And their magical journey to Heaven. After 9/11. It's September 11th, 2001. A young woman wakes up in an unfamiliar world; a place of endless pavement and clear blue skies. Without memories or any belongings she sets out on a quest to find her story. As she ventures out, she meets a fireman in the same predicament. She calls him Hero. He calls her Pretty One. Together Pretty One and Hero embark on a journey to find their true identities. As they travel through a bewildering yet magical realm with no familiar signposts or landmarks, they encounter paper snow, a talking tree, a boy named Possibility and a drink that gives them "Fresh Eyes." It is a realm rich with symbolism. They realize time and space are relative; things can still exist even without a name or physical presence. As they continue their quest, the road they travel presents obstacles that challenge friendship, courage and hope. Pretty One discovers reality, as she knows it, is not what it appears to be. When she learns her identity, she realizes the true meaning of life, death, love and hope. And, Hero discovers his true destiny in a world away. The Road To Beyond is a modern fairy tale that reminds us all that every single human being on earth has significance and that even in inexplicable tragedy we are connected to one another. The story offers hope to those who have lost a loved one. Editorial Reviews: "A fantastic allegorical journey that allows readers to put their own interpretation on life after death" The Romantic Times "A wonderful story for those who believe in the hereafter or not, touching all who remember that fateful day. The story reminds one to take a moment to realize that miracles happen and did, and know that somehow the spirits of so many will continue to live on and be there for us if we look in our hearts." The Romance Studio The Road To Beyond is a must read and a true inspiration to anyone who has lost someone dear to them. For anyone who has ever wondered about the importance of your life, or your affect and contribution to another person's life. For those of us who have wondered what happens to our departed loved ones, asking ourselves: "Where are they now? Do they feel my love? Can they see me? Do they know how much they meant to me?" Grief is something most of us will face at least once in our lifetime. Horrific tragedies like September 11 are filling our world. Ms. Pagano not only deals with these subjects in a compassionate manner, but the passages, the words, the vivid prose and the depth of her characters gives the reader a sense of hope and peace. Selena Robins, author, Once Upon A Kiss The Road To Beyond is an Allegory within a Dream about a Nightmare that was Real. In the Bible, parables were often used to explain unexplainable, ineffable events and intangibles like faith and hope, life and death, and love and loss. So it is in Micki Pagano's The Road to Beyond. Who could ever wrap the horrors of 9/11 in a package that is even a little comprehensible? Yet, The Road to Beyond is a fascinating exercise. The result is a thought provoking, redemptive journey through events we'd like to understand (but never will) toward Hope. Mike Scardino, author, Bad Call
