He is consoling them as they talk about their mom. Dad comforts them by hugging them as their mom always did. They talk about the different feelings they are experiencing and how important they are. Grace misses her mom, and David is scared. Dad tells them that their thoughts and feelings will change over time. As they continue on their journey, their dad expresses how Mom was funny and had a great deal of faith. He tries to explain to Grace and David what faith means to him.
