So, whatever happened to the Church that Jesus came to build? "And I say unto thee that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Mt. 16:18, KJV). So much of that which is called the church in our time and in America has little resemblance to the Church that we see in the New Testament.
