NOTES

Set in the near future, this dystopian novel follows the adventures of Thomas Cat as he sets out on a near-spiritual journey to find the Prophet, Thomas Speaker. The cat promises to pass on a gift to all humanity should he reach the prophet. There is ever-present danger in the form of the murderous Grizzly who rampages across Midwestern America with his band of prison escapees. But, evil takes on different faces. Two lone desperados have taken a keen interest in James Robert Hendrix, a sole survivor struggling on his parent's farm in the heart of the once-great county. Is it luck that brings him together with the cat? As James and Thomas attempt to escape the pair they have the opportunity to discuss the connections between the physical and spiritual planes, the existence of the soul, and Thomas's belief in reincarnation before they are separated and the cat takes his revenge on their two stalkers. Upon his meeting the cat, Christian Chance grows in consciousness and understanding and promises to help in the journey, only to be swept away on his own path. Will he be reunited with his newfound friend? Meanwhile, Grizzly continued spreading mayhem, destroying everything and everyone in his path. He hears of Thomas Speaker and the enclave he built over the decades after the Forever Wars and swears to make it his next target. But, he has dissension in his ranks. The two Thomas' finally meet, a bloody battle is narrowly avoided, and a catastrophe separates the cat from his friends again. Or, does it? This comic satire borders on the absurd as it references many cultural artifacts, especially popular music
