Varina Westcott is a young widow and a talented candlemaker for the royal court and church. At a time of great political unrest in 1501, Varina is conscripted for a secret project by Queen Elizabeth of York. Her task? To carve wax figures of four dead children: two of the queen's children who passed away in infancy and the queen's two brothers, the two princes of the Tower, who disappeared without a trace in 1483. But as the pair unearth clues, each more unsettling than the last, Varina and Nicholas fear that the conspiracy they've come across is much bigger than the queen had ever imagined...and the Tudor dynasty is at risk for complete and utter destruction
