NOTES

A Cowman's Wife is the true account of the author's experience as co-owner of Old Camp Rucker Ranch, a 22,000 acre spread north of Douglas, Arizona that she purchased with her husband in 1919. It chronicles a woman's view of cattle ranching in Northern Arizona, with all the hardships of the 1920's and 1930's, Native Americans, Mexicans, wolves, and horse thieves. She also tells of the pleasures of ranch life: spectacular sunsets, mountain scenery, camaraderie of ranch people, and all-night dances at neighborhood schoolhouse. A wonderful escapist read!
