The 1960 U-2 incident, told through the story of spies on different sides of the Iron Curtain, one of whom is the CIA pilot Francis Gary Powers. In 1960, an American U-2 spy plane crashed on a mission over Russia. This brought to an end the attempt at detente between the Soviet Union and the USA, and gave Kruschev a great propaganda victory when it was revealed that the pilot, Francis Gary Powers, had survived, and confessed all - the CIA had expected him to commit suicide. This is the story of the intersection of the lives of Gary Powers and of Selmer Nielsen, a Norwegian whose task it was to spy on the U-2 for the Russians
