Although Lex and her friends escaped the shadowy company that wanted to use them as lab rats, she ends up having to fight for her life as the experimental drugs they gave her take effect. Upon her success in the fight, Lex returns to find herself changed. She and her friends flee DC and start a new life for themselves as traveling musicians, so that they can scout out a permanent home. This enables them to reconnect with old friends they'd thought lost forever, but as they become more successful, they come into conflict with people from their former profession. After gaining some breathing room, the group of friends plans for an escape that they hope will put them permanently out of harm's reach. Will they be successful, or will the labs be able to reclaim their lost property?
