He was a paper cup salesman who knew how to answer when opportunity knocked. His vision created the fast food industry as we know it today. Ray Kroc is the man behind McDonald's and its 25,000 restaurants worldwide. The sharp dressing salesman had already thought he'd found his niche when he switched from selling paper cups to peddling a mixing machine that could whip up five milkshakes at once. But on a visit to his biggest customer, he found his true calling. Kroc was so impressed with the hamburger stand operated by the McDonald brothers that he offered to franchise the operation for them. Within six years, he had opened more than 300 McDonald's, bought the brothers out and created the fast food industry we know
