Poverty in America Awareness Month

January is National Poverty in America Awareness Month, an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness of poverty's impact and advocating for solutions. The month highlights the complexity of poverty and encourages individuals and communities to take action through donations, volunteering and advocacy.

Period Supplies Drive with PERIOD.

From January 8–20, the library is partnering with PERIOD. and their Chicago Suburbs chapter to collect essential period supplies. All donated menstrual products will go directly to community organizations who serve the local community. For more info visit: https://period.org/.

Food Drive with Faith Feeds

From January 21–February 2, the library is partnering with Faith Feeds to collect food items to support neighbors facing food insecurity. Unexpired non-perishable food items are the most needed food items. Common items needed are cereal, canned fruit and vegetables (no green beans), pasta, tomato products, peanut butter and jelly, as well as $10 grocery gift cards.
