NOTES

"Original 1925 mono recordings"--Container

"The recordings on this album were made by legendary producer Ralph Peer for the OKeh label during the summer of 1925 in a makeshift studio atop the George Vanderbilt Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina. Performers from the Carolinas and Virginia traveled over rough mountain roads to record in Asheville, and the performances showcase the variety of music to be found in the region, including lyric folk songs, ballads, banjo and fiddle instrumentals, vaudeville show pieces, and jazz numbers. ... Curated by Ted Olson and Tony Russell, ... this package includes a 128-page book [bound in container] with detailed commentary, performer biographies, a complete discography of the Asheville sessions, lyrics, and dozens of photographs"--Container
