NOTES

Romeo and Juliet is a classic tragedy by William Shakespeare that tells the story of two young lovers from feuding families in Verona, Italy. Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet meet by chance at a masquerade ball and fall deeply in love, despite their families bitter rivalry. Secretly marrying with the help of Friar Laurence, their love is soon overshadowed by a series of tragic events. Romeo kills Tybalt, Juliet s cousin, in a duel, leading to his banishment. To escape an arranged marriage to Paris, Juliet fakes her death with a potion. However, a miscommunication causes Romeo to believe she is truly dead, and he takes his own life beside her. When Juliet awakens and finds Romeo dead, she ends her life as well. The play explores themes of love, fate, family conflict, and the consequences of impulsive actions, leaving a powerful and enduring legacy in literature
