This is a sequel to Deadly Rainbows. Sean is living with his dad aboard the deep space exploration vessel, the Aurora. The Aurora has entered a region of space where the laws of physics have changed: light is a rainbow of colors, the principles of gravity have changed, and the shield polarity has shifted. The ship's food is spoiling at a much faster rate than normal, and the ship's engines are using up iridium at a much faster pace than normal. These problems have become familiar. Now Sean faces new challenges. During a mission to a ring-shaped planet, Sean gets separated from everyone during a storm. To survive on his own, he must learn to communicate with an alien species while he figures out a way to locate and rejoin the crew -- and face the possibility that they may have given him up for dead and left the planet. Then Sean enters a place that no light source can illuminate. This utter darkness will test the limits of Sean's strength and courage
