Andalucia, Spain. One of the world’s worst places to fight fire, where temperatures of up to 45º c meet with vast vegetation, creating 50 meter walls of flames that threaten the whole region. ‘Life in Flames’ follows a team of elite firemen over the course of a summer. Gustavo leads the team. He’s 41, at the peak of his career, and driven by one obsession - to keep his men alive. One mistake, one wrong choice and someone dies. But now he’s starting to question if it’s all worth it. They put out one fire, someone triggers another. They’re trapped in a never-ending cycle. Abarca, 61, could have left the team years ago but he refused, year after year. But this summer will be bitter-sweet for him. For at the end, he will be forced to give up the job he loves and retire. Meanwhile Curino is about to work his first summer and undergo what the other men refer to as a ‘baptism of fire’
