NOTES

Songs from the wind to the sea is a collection of love poems written along the shores of many continents such as India, Bali, America. These poems are written from a place of deep love in times when I was in the flames of passion as well as the times when I felt cast into the loneliness of love's shadow. These are poems of my honest expressions as I traveled the world searching to make sense of the emotional complexities of both love and loss. Poems are very personal. Sometimes they are affirmations of a passionate love I am unable to keep contained and other times they are cries of sorrow venting from a wounded heart. My poems are written as a means of releasing the feelings that are consuming me like flames. They occupy me with words strung together in symbols and metaphors that convey the complexity of my emotions. I find them repeating themselves in my mind, only to stop once I have written them on paper. To me writing poems is less about creating art, but rather it is the act of releasing the art that already dwells within me. I believe art to be alive, born from the intensity of life's experience. These are a collection of poems that have resulted from both love and loss. Writing poetry pacifies the grip that these emotions can have over me. They were written in reverence for both the pleasure and the pain of love. They were written like a song sung privately to the spirits of the wind and the sea
