1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (Ages 0-5)
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (Ages 0-5)
Shared reading is the best way to help babies, toddlers and preschoolers develop the important early literacy skills they need to learn how to read independently later on. The more books children ages 0-5 hear, the more prepared they will be to learn how to read.
- Every time you read any book to your little one, log it on Beanstack! Even if it's the same book 10 times, log it 10 times.
- For every 200 books that are read, children will get a prize book.
- After 1,000 books are read, participants can stop by the library to get their final prize book. They can also put their name on a customized magnet that will be featured on Kids’ World’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten display.
Read 500 (Grades K-3)
Read 500 (Grades K-3)
- Register every year in September and pick up a paper log at the library. The program will last from September through May.
- Log how many minutes your child reads. Enter the exact number of minutes you read, and Beanstack will keep track of your total as you approach 500 minutes.
- Receive a digital badge every time you read for 500 minutes. Visit the Kids' World Desk for a matching animal sticker to add to your paper log.
- Earn a free book for every three badges you earn. If you read 500 minutes every month, you can earn three free books every year!
- Make sure to log your reading on Beanstack regularly to be entered into our monthly prize drawings! At the end of every month, anyone who logs minutes on Beanstack will be eligible for a random prize drawing.
