Before Suggesting a Purchase

For items older than a year, search the catalog of libraries throughout the country with WorldCat Discovery and request the item through Interlibrary Loan. To access your ILL Account, please visit the My Requests Logon page.
New Releases
- AHML cardholders may suggest a purchase. We accept purchase suggestions for recent and upcoming releases. However, we don't accept suggestions for items with publication dates more than six months in the future.
- If we purchase the requested item, we will place a hold on it for you. However, submitting a suggestion does not guarantee that you will be first on the holds list.
- You can check the status of your suggestion on your account page.
The library does not consider purchase suggestions for:
- Items with publication dates more than six months in the future.
- Movies that have not yet opened nationally in theaters. Most popular movies appear in the catalog as “coming attractions” shortly before the theatrical release date.
- Self-published books unless they have been professionally reviewed, have demonstrated consumer popularity, or were written by an Arlington Heights resident.
