This volume, written by a poet and scholar of linguistics, is a collection of poetry on serious themes. It is part of the author's Levities and Gravities project. The Levities and Gravities project aims to demonstrate the power of attention to linguistic form in poetry and to highlight the fact that poetry can feed any emotion, not just the heavy ones. This volume contains "gravities," or serious poems, but the associated levities series presents humorous poems.
