NOTES

Forgiveness: The Journey to Total Liberty and Freedom Hey there, My name is Karen Maureen Wangui Njagi. Wednesday, August 12, 2019 is the day I broke up with my fiancé. It was the most devastating moment of my life; love hurts. I was angry, bitter, frustrated with life, blamed myself, cried for months, and lost eleven pounds. I hated myself, men, and even contemplated living single. Moreover, it opened wounds of losing my dad at a tender age and how my relatives mistreated my nuclear family following my father's passing. Shortly after, I realized that staying bitter and angry would not change the state of affairs. Instead, it robbed me of peace and joy. Forgiveness is loving myself and accepting how I feel. Despite feeling angry and confused about why the relationship ended, I still found reasons to be grateful. Nothing comes to God as a surprise. According to Romans 8:28, God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him and those called according to His purpose. I had moments when I'm was overwhelmed and felt like I'm was falling back to sadness. I chose to love myself, embrace myself to let the feelings go, and pray in those moments. I encourage you to do it at your own pace. Forgiveness starts with acceptance, accepting something traumatic has happened. Then love yourself, and as self-love grows, you will be able to let go of what has taken place. I also surrounded myself with supportive people, family, and friends who ensured I was on track, especially when emotions overwhelmed me. I did all it took to remain positive. I was prayed and fasted a lot during that season. Two years later, I have chosen to forgive more and find my worth and value in God as a woman. I also discovered new hobbies and my purpose. Additionally, I have learned to wait upon the promises of God, which are yes and Amen. Although it is easier said than done, forgiving is self-love. It is the key to living a fulfilled life. It has brought experience, restoration, and growth
