NOTES

A children's book about a dog named, Scampy who is bored. He is locked daily in his fenced in yard and constantly being teased by a cat outside the fence. As Scampy wishes for the freedom of the outside world, a workman enters the yard and leaves the fence door open. Scampy sees his chance and bolts through the door. His excitement for his final freedom knows no bounds. He searches for a cat to take out his pent-up frustration. He chases cars, rummages in garbage cans, and barks at every person he sees. Unfortunately, he slowly realizes freedom might not be the greatest thing. He runs into a pack of dogs that molest him and chase him off. He encounters a skunk who he mistakes for a cat only to fi nd out to late it wasn't a cat. More negative adventures ensue which leads him and his empty stomach into the net of a nasty dog catcher. From the catcher he is left at the pound where he sees other captive dogs led into another room, never to return. Finally, a worker opens his cage and he feels his life of freedom is about to end completely. Instead, his mistress walks in and cuddles him in her arms. He is saved and swears to himself to never run away again. I'm bored is an attempt to teach children not run away from home
