NOTES

Read by Carole-Anne Fooks

1. Peter's father liked to look for birds. Every time he saw one he had not seen before he liked to check it with his binoculars, take a photo, and write down its name in his bird book. One day Peter's father showed him a picture of a big black bird with a yellow tail, and said, "This is a Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo; I have not seen one before in the wild, but I hear there is a pair down by the lake. How would you like to come with me today to look for the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo?" 2. Tomorrow is Friday - it is School Sports Afternoon. Peter is looking forward to it because he is good at sport. He especially likes RUNNING and JUMPING. Last year, in his 8-year age group, he won the 70 metres race, the long jump, and the scissors high jump. Peter was so excited on Friday morning because he expected to be a winner again. He announced to his parents and friends "I hope you will all watch me win the three events again this year!"
