Red jungle fowl is very precious bird, being the ancestor of all the modern day chicken and having its existence today. Chicken plays a very crucial role in providing nutritional security. The present day high, yielding chicken varieties are the backbone of the multi million rupees poultry industry. In the process of genetic improvement of the domestic chicken for high production potential, apprehensions are that, while enormous gains have been made on production potential, but the attributes related to adaptability and livability were lost.
