Yunis Khatayer Abbas

In September 2003, freelance Iraqi cameraman Yunis Khatayer Abbas was arrested and accused of planning to kill the United Kingdom's Prime Minister Tony Blair. Filmmakers Michael Tucker and Petra Epperlein were on the scene fi lming "Gunner Palace" when they fi rst crossed paths with Abbas. They later learned that he ended up in Abu Ghraib, so they returned to Iraq to find him. The fi lmmakers recount Abbas's story through the use of their embedded footage, comic-book style illustrations, clips from Abbas's home movies, and interviews with the American prison guard whom he came to trust. THE PRISONER is an extraordinary story of hope and of one man's belief in the power of truth and freedom while in the face of an absurd and nightmarish situation
