Freeze/Unfreeze Holds
You can use Freeze to keep your place in the queue while holds for people further down in the list are filled

To freeze a hold:

  • Find your list of Holds on the My Account page under the My Holds heading
  • Click the Freeze box to the right of each item you wish to freeze
  • Click the Update Holds button

Holds can't be frozen if:

  • The item is available on the shelf
  • The Hold has already been filled and is awaiting pickup 
  • The item has been on hold for more than 255 days

To remove ​a freeze:

  • Uncheck the Freeze check box next to each item you wish to unfreeze
  • Click the Update Holds button

Holds can't be unfrozen if:

  • If the item has been on hold for more than 255 days
     
 
Place Holds
Requesting items that are not immediately available for check-out is easy.  
 
  • Make sure you are logged in, then click Place hold for the item you would like to request. 
  • Specify your desired pickup location.
  • Click Submit
 
You will be contacted when your item is ready for pickup. If you need speedier pickup on items that are "available," call 847-392-0100 during library hours and we can arrange to have an item ready for you.
 
Holds for ebooks and downloadable audiobooks can be placed through the library's Hoopla3M. or  Overdrive app or website. 
 
Maximum Number of Holds
You may have up to 400 holds on your account. Click on My Account to check the number of holds you have. 
Renew Items
Most items can be renewed twice unless they are on Hold for another customer. Items from our Marketplace can be renewed once if there are no Holds. 
 
Items can be renewed from your account page
  • Log in and click My Account
     
If you do not see the My Checkouts heading, click the View tab beneath your name

To renew selected items:

  • Click the checkbox to the right of the item(s) you wish to renew
  • Click the Renew Selected button at the bottom of your checkouts list
  • The new due date(s) are displayed on the right side of each item
 
To renew all items:
  • Click the Renew All button at the bottom of your list of checkouts

Items can't be renewed if:

  • There is a Hold on the item
  • You have reached your limit on how many times an item can be renewed 
 

 

 
 

Change Your Username or Password
Usernames and passwords can be updated from your account page.
 
  • Click My Account
    (Not logged in? Login and you are automatically taken to the My Account page)
 

Change Your Username

  • Click the Edit Account Settings tab - you'll find it right beneath your username on the account page
  • Enter your new username
  • Click the Save button at the bottom of the page

Change Your Password:

  • Click the Edit Account Settings tab - you'll find it right beneath your username on the account page
  • Enter your new password in the Password field
  • Confirm the new password in the Confirm Password field
  • Click the Save button at the bottom of the page
 
Update Your Email Address
 
Email addresses can be updated from your  account page.
 
  • Click My Account
    (Not logged in? Login and you are automatically taken to the My Account page)
 

Update borrowing notifications email:

Due date reminders, hold pick-up notices, and overdue notices are delivered to the email address(es) provided for "Borrowing Notifications Email"
  • Click Change Notification Email Address located under My Account Summary 
  • Enter your last name and library barcode 
  • Click Submit
  • Type in your updated email address(es) - you may have notifications sent to more than one email address. Separate email addresses with commas
  • Click Submit

Update emails for everything else:

  • Emails for program registrations, room reservations, or newsletters are delivered to the email address provided for "Emails for Everything Else"
  • Click the Edit Account Settings tab - you'll find it right beneath your username on the account page
  • Type in your updated email address
  • Click the Save button at the bottom of the page
 
Update Your Telephone Number
If you change your phone number please send us an email or call 847-392-0100 so we can update our records.
 
 
 
 
Update Your Library Card Number
When you get a new library card, you will need to update your website account with your new library card number. After you perform this update, you will be asked to verify the new number the next time you sign in to your account.
 
  • Click My Account
    (Not logged in? Login and you are automatically taken to the My Account page)
  • Click Edit Account Settings
  • Click Card Number and Pickup Location
  • Enter the new card number*
  • Click Save
 

*If you have chosen What is your library card number? as your Security Question, you should change your the answer to match your new library card number. Click on Edit Account Settings to change your security question/answer.

 
 

View/Manage Child's Account
Parents and or legal guardians can easily manage their child's library account by adding an additional card to their accounts.
 
  • Log in and click My Account
  • If you do not see the Additional Accounts heading, click the View tab beneath your name
  • Click the [Add an additional library card] link under the Additional Accounts header. 
 
 
 
 
If your status is Confirmed Registration, your spot for the event is confirmed.

If registration for this event is full, you will be placed on a waiting list. Wait listed registrants are moved to the confirmed registration list (in the order of registration) when cancelations are received. You will receive an email notification if you are moved from the wait list to the confirmed registration list.

6.012 Patron-Generated Content

The Library offers various venues in which patrons can contribute content that is accessible to the public.  These include, but are not limited to, blogs, reviews, forums, and social tagging on the Library’s website and catalog.  Any instance in which a patron posts written or recorded content to any of the Library’s venues that are accessible to the public is considered “patron-generated content” and is subject to this policy.
 
By contributing patron-generated content, patrons grant the Library an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual right and license to use, copy, modify, display, archive, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works based upon that content.
 
By submitting patron-generated content, patrons warrant they are the sole authors or that they have obtained all necessary permission associated with copyrights and trademarks to submit such content.
 
Patrons are liable for the opinions expressed and the accuracy of the information contained in the content they submit.  The Library assumes no responsibility for such content.
 
The Library reserves the right not to post submitted content or to remove patron-generated content for any reason, including but not limited to:
 
  • content that is profane, obscene, or pornographic;
 
  • content that is abusive, discriminatory or hateful on account of race, national origin, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation;
 
  • content that contains threats, personal attacks, or harassment;
 
  • content that contains solicitations or advertisements;
 
  • content that is invasive of another person’s privacy;
 
  • content that is unrelated to the discussion or venue in which it is posted;
 
  • content that is in violation of the Library’s Code of Conduct or any other Library policy
