The Arlington Heights Memorial Library's Makerplace officially debuted on Sunday, September 19 with a grand opening celebration, which included welcoming remarks by library officials and Mayor Tom Hayes followed by a ceremonial opening of the building's front doors. Throughout the afternoon, close to 500 attendees took a guided tour of the new makerspace and learned about the many things visitors ages 12 and up can do using the Makerplace's technology and creative equipment along with flexible workspaces and a commercial-grade kitchen. The library would like to thank the Arlington Heights Memorial Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library for their continued support in helping to bring the makerspace to the Arlington Heights community.
The Makerplace is the Arlington Heights Memorial Library's new makerspace and center for hands-on experiential learning, located at 112 N. Belmont Avenue, near Recreation Park. Starting Tuesday, September 21, the Makerplace will be open its regular operating hours and you can visit anytime to explore the space, try something new or bring a project from home and use the open workspaces. The library is requiring masks in library buildings and on the bookmobile for all individuals over the age of two, regardless of vaccination status in compliance with Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order and the Cook County Department of Public Health Mandate.

Limited parking is available in a lot behind the building, and street parking is available on Miner Street, Pine Street, Wing Street and Belmont Avenue.
