Originally produced by Pro Doco in 2004

This program is about the landscapes, landforms and land uses of this region with Australia's highest mountains. Emphasis is on the unique flora and fauna, ice-carved and shaped landforms and the use of the region by people. This includes winter snow sports, summer walks and the Snowy Mountains Scheme. The Kosciuszko National Park offers recreational experiences while protecting ecosystems and historical sites. The impacts of people and initiatives to protect the natural environment in Alpine and sub-Alpine areas is covered. Impacts of the 2003 fires shows how fragile ecosystems were affected and how they recover. Walks to the summit of Mt. Kosciuszko, Blue Lake (Australia's largest glacial lake) and other lakes as well as to the Mt. Twynam area are highlights of this program
