The true saga of this modern ruin and its current plight is woven into a plot where the restoration of grand buildings is a metaphor for a larger theme. There are links to the music written and performed by the author's 18 year old son and the theatre web sites all of which are sub-plots in the book. The MIM index story has political intrigue, conspiracies, super computer hacking, privacy law violations, futuristic video gaming and a cast of edgy techno young adults working with their older cohorts. A strong female lead works to solve the puzzle of which she becomes an important piece. The narrative lets the reader ponder their own personal hit list. It is very cathartic. THE MIM INDEX After their family disintegrated, Jake Hughes and his teenage son Peter consciously decided to channel their emotional energy toward creative projects. Peter began to write and record music and Jake wrote a powder keg political fiction novel outlining a strategy toward world peace through the "decapitation" of the world's rich and powerful. The book riles the leaders of the powerful shadow government and a sinister industrial cabal. Their retaliation sends Jake and Agent Tara Smith, talented computer hacker for the NSA, running for their lives in a high tech battle of wits. Found guilty of MIM (Man's Inhumanity to Man,) the victim's fate had been determined by a web site where people of the world voted, vetted and created a "deck of cards" similar to those used by the Bush administration during the opening days of the Iraq war featuring the most wanted. The web site, and other support sites, however were originally launched only as marketing tools for Jake's book. The authenticity of the sites along with some coercing from the cabal, convince a middle eastern leader to send a hit squad to take out the fictional Mim Index "team " that, in reality, was just the five video and web designers of the small production house that the author operated out of an abandoned 1920's movie palace in Kenosha, Wisconsin. After the failed "terrorist attack" on the band of plucky computer nerds, the world turns to the hoax sites and their disinformation goes viral. The fictional pages of the book become reality as the plot unfurls involving the NSA, FBI, & CIA in Chicago, Dubai and Kenosha, It is a tale of high tech communications and conspiracy, in a fast paced adventure that accidentally changes the world
