You hit your 18th birthday and are excited about voting on November 6th... now what??
 
If you missed our First Time Voter program, don't fear!
Here's a list of recources to help you be a more informed voter:
 
Dates to know:
- November 6, 2018:  Election Day; registration available at your voting location
- October 22 to November 5, 2018:  early voting period
- October 21, 2018:  deadline to register to vote online
- October 10 to November 5, 2018: grace period registration and voting
- October 9, 2018:  deadline to register to vote in person or by mail
 
Voting Information:
Find Your Voter Information, including your polling location, ballots for upcoming elections and your elected officials.
 
Learn about the Candidates:
Chicago Tribune articles, endorsements and candidate surveys
Daily Herald news, endorsements, profiles

These tools offer information on judicial candidates:
Illinois State Bar Association Judicial Evaluations
Chicago Bar Association Judicial Evaluations

For additional information on candidates and races, some organizations also perform fact checking and publish articles:
Ballotpedia Illinois:  A nonpartisan and nonprofit online encyclopedia of American politics and elections.
Politifact Illinois:  A Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking website.

 
Follow the Legal Process:
Follow state law at the Illinois General Assembly and track bills with their Legislative Reports.
Track federal legislation in both the House of Representatives and Senate at Congress.gov.
Congressional Research Service Reports from the Library of Congress are now available to the public.  These reports examine issues from all perspectives to inform lawmakers throughout the process of drafting, debating, passing, and enacting legislation.

Hello College-bound Teens (and your parents)!
 
The 2019-2020 FAFSA application was opened on October 1st!
If the form and its questions are leaving you a little confused, please consider registering for the FAFSA Completion Workshop.
 
 
The FAFSA Completion Workshop will be held October 18th from 6-8pm in the Cardinal Room.
A representative from ISAC will be available to provide in-person help with filling out the form.  
If you're interested, please register through the program calendar at: http://www.ahml.info/attend/events
 
Important items to bring with you to the workshop:
  •   Social Security Number
  • Records of income:
Income earned from work and business, child support paid or received, and any other untaxed income. If you have them, refer to the W-2 Forms or Federal Income Tax Return IRS 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ.
  • Information about assets:
Savings, certificates of deposit, stock options, bonds, 529 plans and other college savings programs; and investment, real estate, business and farm.
  • Driver’s license number
  • Dates of birth
  • Month and year of marriage, separation, divorce or other change in marital status.
  • Alien Registration Number, if you (student) are not a U.S. citizen.
