steaming Check out the new Teen Advisory Book display in front of the Checkout desk. Here's what the creators of the display had to say about these books: FOOD FOR THOUGHT "Nothing goes better with a good book than a good snack. Though not edible, books are deliciously intriguing and emotionally satisfying. So if you've got an appetite for something though-provoking and entertaining, take a bite out of one of these great books. Bon appetit!"

Cold Reads, I'm freezing

... probably should check out some of these winter reads! Now, this book (directly below), is what I am currently reading and I have to say: the writing is real good. The main character is ... well he's ... you know the right way tos ay it would be to say he's .... umm ... eccentric. Yeah, that's the word ... eccentric in a good way. Joel is the main character and in his strange world, New Year's Eve is whenever the first snow falls. Right ... good luck figuring that one out. I told you, he's odd. But, anyways, getting back to Joel. He makes three "New Year's Eve" resolutions in the middle of the night in a desolate graveyard and here's what they are: 1) He's going to live to 100 years old. 2) He and his father, Samuel, will move away from the town they currently live in. And, finally, 3) He will see a naked woman in the upcoming year. Strange book, but, such crisp writing, and, oh yeah, Joel is also friends with a woman who has no nose. I'm serious. Check this book out (I know it has a bad cover, but don't let that stop you ... it's too intriguing not to read! fell When the Snow Fell or end Winter's End maybe this? girls Winter Girls The book below taught me about blebs. What are blebs you ask? Well, they are fluid-filled blisters on the skin that result from freezing. And even in modern day Alaska, freezing is a real threat. That's not the only threat the characters in this story endure. There is a man who is caught in a seriously horrifying situation and his grandson is the only one who knows what might be happening. This book is pulse-pounding in it's intensity and the Alaskan wilderness is brought to life in a brutal, dangerous and breath-taking fashion READ THIS BOOK!!! trap The Trap Lastly, get freaked out in the winter by reading this book, Bonechiller by Graham McNamee. Ray Dawson is a freak, druggie, bully who always had problems. But no one ever thought he should be hospitalized. And things really start to get strange when people begin to hear stories about hoe Ray escaped from the hospital in the middle of the freezing, winter night and hasn't been seen for three days. But what is even more chilling, is that other teenagers have gone missing, as well. bone Bonechiller

t.b.c. teen book club discussion!

13 The t.b.c. is meeting on Sunday, January 17th from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. to discuss Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Here's what some important people had to say about this book: -Sherman Alexie (my personal fave author for teens): "Thirteen Reasons Why is a mystery, eulogy, and ceremony. I know, in the years to come, I will often return to this book." Well, he is also the author who, through one of his characters, admitted that, "That's right, I am a book kisser." But actually kissing books is a whole different blog post ... so let's get back to reviews of Thirteen Reasons Why: -"A brilliant and mesmerizing debut from a gifted new author." --Kirkus Reviews, starred review -"Breakneck pace and dizzying emotion." --School Library Journal -"Readers won't be able to pull themselves away . . . " --Publishers Weekly -"Eerie, beautiful, and devastating." --The Chicago Tribune Now doesn't that make you want to reserve one of 10 copies we have waiting for you at the Welcome Desk in the Library?!?! Call (847)392-0100 reserve a copy then meet with us to discuss on Sunday, January 17th!
