Studio Kits

Arlington Heights cardholders may reserve one of the following kits for use in any Studio (Reel-to-Reel Film Conversion Kit is for use only in Studio C). Please call or stop in reserve any of the Studio Kits. Brief training is required to use these kits. Please set up a one-on-one appointment to get started.
Audio Conversion Kit
For use in any Studio, the audio conversion kit gives you the tools necessary for transferring records and cassettes to a CD, or to a digital audio file. Make sure to request this kit when reserving a Studio. details

Batch Slide Scanner
For use in any Studio, the batch slide scanner gives you the the ability to scan large quantities of slides in a short amount of time. Scan up to 800 slides in an hour. Make sure to request this kit when reserving a Studio. details

Reel-to-Reel Film Conversion Kit
For use in Studio C, the Reel-to-Reel Film Conversion Kit provides equipment that converts Regular 8mm, Super 8mm and 16mm film to a digital video file, and subsequently to DVD if you prefer. Once you’ve been trained, make sure to request this kit when reserving Studio C. details

Oculus Rift + Touch

For use in Studio B, Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset equipped with demos, games (including Minecraft), drawing/sculpting programs, and other VR experiences. Runs on a custom PC with Intel Core i5 3.5 GHz processor and NVIDIA GTX 1070 video card. details

Recording Kit
For use in any Studio, the recording kit provides you with a USB audio interface, condenser microphone and cables to record voice or music. You may also it to record music or voice with your own laptop and software.
VHS Conversion Kit

For use in any Studio, the VHS conversion kit enables you to digitize your VHS and Video8 tapes to DVD or to a digital format. Looking to convert other formats? Make sure to request this kit when reserving a Studio.

  • 33, 45 and 78 RPM records

Wait listed registrants are moved to the confirmed registration list (in the order of registration) when cancelations are received. 6.012 Patron-Generated Content

The Library offers various venues in which patrons can contribute content that is accessible to the public.  These include, but are not limited to, blogs, reviews, forums, and social tagging on the Library’s website and catalog.  Any instance in which a patron posts written or recorded content to any of the Library’s venues that are accessible to the public is considered “patron-generated content” and is subject to this policy.
By contributing patron-generated content, patrons grant the Library an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual right and license to use, copy, modify, display, archive, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works based upon that content.
By submitting patron-generated content, patrons warrant they are the sole authors or that they have obtained all necessary permission associated with copyrights and trademarks to submit such content.
Patrons are liable for the opinions expressed and the accuracy of the information contained in the content they submit.  The Library assumes no responsibility for such content.
The Library reserves the right not to post submitted content or to remove patron-generated content for any reason, including but not limited to:
  • content that is profane, obscene, or pornographic;
  • content that is abusive, discriminatory or hateful on account of race, national origin, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation;
  • content that contains threats, personal attacks, or harassment;
  • content that contains solicitations or advertisements;
  • content that is invasive of another person’s privacy;
  • content that is unrelated to the discussion or venue in which it is posted;
  • content that is in violation of the Library’s Code of Conduct or any other Library policy
