Studio Kits

Reserve one of the following kits for use in any Studio (Film Digitization Kit is for use only in Studio C). Please call or stop in reserve any of the Studio Kits.
Audio Digitization Kit
For use in any Studio, the Audio Conversion Kit gives you the tools necessary for transferring records and cassettes to a CD, or to a digital audio file. Make sure to request this kit when reserving a Studio.
Batch Scanner Kit
For use in any Studio, the Batch Scanner Kit gives you the the ability to scan large quantities of slides in a short amount of time. Scan up to 800 slides in an hour. Make sure to request this kit when reserving a Studio.

Film Digitization Kit
For use in Studio C, the Film Conversion Kit provides equipment that converts Regular 8mm, Super 8mm and 16mm film to a digital video file, and subsequently to DVD if you prefer. Once you’ve been trained, make sure to request this kit when reserving Studio C.

Oculus Rift

For use in Studio B, Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset equipped with demos, games (including Minecraft), drawing/sculpting programs, and other VR experiences. Includes Oculus Touch hand controllers.

Recording Kit
For use in any Studio, the recording kit provides you with a USB audio interface, mics and cables to use in any Studio, or allow you to record with your own laptop and software.
Video Conversion Kit

For use in any Studio, the Video Conversion Kit enables you to digitize your VHS tapes to DVD or to a digital format. Looking to convert other formats? Make sure to request this kit when reserving a Studio.

  • Photos and documents (up to 8.5 x 11.7)
  • 35mm and 120mm film negatives
  • 35mm Slides
  • VHS and VHS-C Tape
  • Video8 Cassettes (not Digital8 or Hi8)
  • 8mm, Super 8mm and 16mm films
  • Audio Cassette Tape
  • 33, 45 and 78 RPM records

If you have a different format, let us know. If you have access to a working playback device, there's a chance it will connect to our digitization equipment.

6.012 Patron-Generated Content

The Library offers various venues in which patrons can contribute content that is accessible to the public.  These include, but are not limited to, blogs, reviews, forums, and social tagging on the Library’s website and catalog.  Any instance in which a patron posts written or recorded content to any of the Library’s venues that are accessible to the public is considered “patron-generated content” and is subject to this policy.
By contributing patron-generated content, patrons grant the Library an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual right and license to use, copy, modify, display, archive, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works based upon that content.
By submitting patron-generated content, patrons warrant they are the sole authors or that they have obtained all necessary permission associated with copyrights and trademarks to submit such content.
Patrons are liable for the opinions expressed and the accuracy of the information contained in the content they submit.  The Library assumes no responsibility for such content.
The Library reserves the right not to post submitted content or to remove patron-generated content for any reason, including but not limited to:
  • content that is profane, obscene, or pornographic;
  • content that is abusive, discriminatory or hateful on account of race, national origin, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation;
  • content that contains threats, personal attacks, or harassment;
  • content that contains solicitations or advertisements;
  • content that is invasive of another person’s privacy;
  • content that is unrelated to the discussion or venue in which it is posted;
  • content that is in violation of the Library’s Code of Conduct or any other Library policy
