We had a great discussion of The E-myth Revisited last week! Our small group of participants spoke of how they would apply what they were learning to their business and personal lives. One participant shared that he wished he'd had this book in his hands 20 years ago! The teaching is part story, part inspiration, part instruction. The book outlines the three personalities that are each required for the business to function but are also at odds with each other. The Technician, the Manager, and the Entreprenuer. Every small business owner can relate to the struggles and challenges shared in the story of Sarah and her shop, All About Pies. The struggle of pouring your heart into the business as an entrepreneur, taking pride in the creation of whatever you offer as the Techinician, and overseeing the process as the Manager. The problem is when the business becomes dependant on the owner. He/she wears all the hats, hires their first few employees, and without systems in place for how the business should operate -- ends up falling apart because others don't have the same heart for the business that the owner does. The book outlines how to get out of this pattern. It equips owners and partners to intentionally build a business with a foundation that can stand the test of time - and even be replicated - creating th opportunity for additional shops or locations or ownership. Would you like to get away once in a while? Spend more time with family? Create a business as an investment that can be purchased by someone else down the road when you're ready to retire or move on to your next dream? Read this book sooner rather than later -- it should be on every entrepreneurs bookshelf!

Social media is something that takes time to develop. It requires a different mindset when using it as a marketing tool beyond sharing pictures of the grandkids and special events. Our Business Services Staff provides one-on-one appointments for those entrepreneurs who are just beginning to navigate the whirlwind of social media marketing. We work with businesses who are just starting as well as established businesses who need direction on the kinds of content their business might share. We simplify the journey by helping you identify which platform is the best place to start and how to use it for YOUR business. We often continue to meet with our local business owners as they grow and branch out into new social media platforms, teaching them how to use each platform individually as well as how to tie them together for a seamless marketing system. Have you met with us yet?
We also practice what we teach! Are you following AHML on social media? Business Services has it's own board on Pinterest inside the AHML platform. The library also uses Facebook and Twitter to promote the various programs and services available including our business services. You'll find snapshots from around the library on Instagram and videos (including our Business Video-Bytes series!) on the YouTube channel! Our monthly Business Newsletter is a critical piece that provides insights and timely tips just for our local entrepreneurs! Come check us out and make sure you follow so you don't miss anything!
